Passions…
I am passionate about Jesus and the gospel. Truly. I love Jesus and try to follow Him to the best of my ability, though I always fall short. That is just the thing, though. His grace covers it all. Jesus is loving, compassionate and awesome. He cares for everyone. People may think he is a crazy lunatic who had no idea what he was talking about but he raised up from the dead, proving it all. A quote I love from C.S. Lewis is “I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. . .” I love this because nowadays people are always saying how Jesus was a prophet or a good teacher, but the truth is he was either God or he wasn’t. And that determines your future. Literally. We have all sinned and if you’re going to do something about it, go ahead and believe Jesus and ask him to be Lord of your life and live like it, but if you don’t care about your sin, you’ll be separated from God because he is perfect and can’t be with sin. That is why hell exists. So that there is a place for people who don’t want to be with God when they die. Anyways, that was a rant, haha. But that is what I’m passionate about. Can you tell?
