Pointe Shoe Projects
Old pair of pointe shoes? Let’s put their beauty to use!
All of these things are optional…the idea is just to decorate a pointe shoe or a pair of pointe shoes however you want. I will go into some depth for what I did but have fun with it.
Needed materials:
- DECORATING SUPPLIES!!! Ideas…glitter, beads, ribbon, lace, fabric, sequins, etc. (P.S. This is what you will spend most of your time doing)
- Paint
- Glue (depending on what you’re decorating with)
- Design paint supplies like nail dotters (I use them for paint instead), toothpicks are an option, Q-tips, paint brushes
- Black or Colorful Markers
Directions:
Again, you do not have to follow any specific order but this is a summarized version of what I did!
- Make the ribbons attached to the shoe into a cute bow.
- Grab the paint (I used pastel colors to follow the aesthetic of the shoe) and put whatever design you choose on the inside of the shoe. (I left the outside with no design because I liked the look of it, plus the fabric didn’t seem like it was good to paint on.) I painted a fading of pastel colors with dots over it. P.S. I had to use a lot of paint to make sure all the sides of the inside of the shoe were covered.
- Hot tip: Let the paint dry for at least a little while then add whatever decorations you want. I added lots of glitter to make it sparkle and then I was done. Feel free to add whatever you like here.
- I used a part of the shoe to write something motivational on it. You can write something like a Bible verse or quote or not do that at all.
- You’re done! Unless you think of something else to do with it/add to it (if so, please let me know on the contact page and maybe I’ll do it next time) then take your finished piece of work and hang it up somewhere. Or give it back to your dance friend. Hope you liked this idea!!!
My example that I did is below.
